When the real world is transformed into mere images, mere images become real beings.

                                                                                                                                                  Guy Debord

Never before have so many photos been taken to validate one’s experience: there are millions of images of people and places that exist in the everlasting moment of the present, on the web and the social media. Rome serves as a backdrop of Godlewska’s investigation of our love affair with our own  likeness, constantly uploaded and shared with others.

Maja Godlewska is a Polish-American visual artist. Associate Professor of Art at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte, U.S.A., she is the recipient of numerous grants and awards, including the Fulbright Fellowship and Kosciuszko Foundation Grant. Godlewska has exhibited internationally in Europe, North and South America, Africa and Asia. Her creative work encompasses painting, installation, photography and performance.

Exhibition continues 17-24 May
