Three years ago today was the opening of “New Skin”, the exhibition of Patricia Leon Leon (Ecuador) and Kirsten Stingle AIRs 2017. “Rome wears its history like a continually developing skin. Centuries of experience, emotion, and vitality are found in the exposed layers and modern spirit of this city. Mid-career ceramic sculptors, Kirsten Stingle and Patricia Leon Leon were deeply influenced by the continual visual activity of Rome’s character. Through figurative and abstract works, Stingle and Leon Leon explore the stratums--often hidden underneath a polite societal veneer--that define who we are as human beings. Focusing on both the cacophony and concordant blending of texture and movement, their work celebrates the marks of time and continual rebirth.”
