Australian artist Naomi Eller AIR 2016 entitled her show “Plug/Tappi”. For the exhibition, she fired several pieces in reduction using the same method as used by the Etruscans to produce bucchero ware. “Like my earlier works, this sculptural installation focusses on our personal discourse and the external factors that play a part in our construction and destruction. Titled ‘At the heart of the matter’, it is comprised of a large ceramic wall piece. Its form contains a hole and is accompanied by a series of ‘plugs that take the form of functional and non-functional tools. The opening can be filled with these optional insertions that can act as both aids and blockages.”
