Come molti, troppo spesso collezionavo sassi, ignorando e glorificando contempor-aneamente un luogo, un momento o una storia.
Dall'argilla al fuoco, dalla terra che diventa pietra, questi ciottoli di argilla sono i testimoni del mio lavoro al CRETA Rome su una tecnica molto imprevedibile e complessa: la lucentezza dello smalto.
Come Pollicino che segna il suo percorso, io identifico il mio viaggio. Qui, il materiale più umile diventa una riflessione sul passaggio da un'importanza inesistente a un valore emotivo carico.

Affascinata dall'abbellimento, France Goneau esplora il concetto di ornamento come strumento di significato.
Oggetto del continuo sostegno del Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec e del Canada Council for the Arts, France ha presentato le sue ceramiche in Canada, Stati Uniti d'America, Repubblica Dominicana, Emirati Arabi Uniti, Giappone, Spagna e Cina.
France vive e lavora a Montreal, in Canada. È membro dell'Accademia Internazionale della Ceramica e il suo lavoro fa parte di collezioni pubbliche in Canada, Repubblica Dominicana, Giappone e Spagna.

Like many, I too often collected pebbles, simultaneously disregarding and glorifying a location, a moment or a story.
From clay to fire, earth becoming stone, these clay pebbles are the witnesses of my work at CRETA Rome on a very unpredictable and complex technique: in-glaze luster.
Like Tom Thumb marking his path, I identify my journey. Here, the most humble material becomes a reflection on the shift from non-existent importance to charged emotional value.

Fascinated by embellishment, France Goneau explores the concept of adornment as an instrument of meaning.
Subject of continuous support from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec and the Canada Council for the Arts, France has presented her ceramics in Canada, United States of America, Dominican Republic, United Arab Emirates, Japan, Spain and China.
France lives and works in Montreal, Canada. She is a member of the International Academy of Ceramics and her work is part of public collections in Canada, Dominican Republic, Japan and Spain.

JENNY: PROBABLY A GODDESS
Sono principalmente un pittore figurativo che lavora in uno stile realista. Il mio lavoro riguarda le esperienze delle donne e la maggior parte dei miei dipinti sono di donne in una scena. Questa mostra è un punto di partenza per me: laddove in precedenza ho utilizzato forme flessibili e inventato masse integrate da ceramiche primitive, scolpite a mano in un processo simile alla striatura dei tratti dipinti, questo rappresenta la mia prima avventura sperimentale nel più ampio mondo di ceramica.
L'anno scorso ho ricevuto una borsa di studio dall'Arts Council England per concentrarmi sulla cura degli elementi scultorei della mia pratica e per aiutare a migliorare le capacità tecniche per espandere il mio lavoro 3D. La residenza presso CRETA Roma è stata una fantastica opportunità per ampliare la mia esplorazione nel mezzo e per avvicinarmi al lavoro in ceramica dal punto di vista di un pittore.

Ruth Murray è un'artista con sede a Manchester il cui lavoro riflette un profondo interesse nell'esplorazione della ritrattistica, dell'identità e della presenza delle preoccupazioni umane negli ambienti naturali e nel paesaggio sociale.
Ruth si è laureata al Royal College of Art ed è stata Derek Hill Scholar presso la British School at Rome nel 2008. Le sue mostre degne di nota includono Northern Stars alla A Foundation, Saatchi's 4 New Sensations, The Creative Cities Collection al Barbican e BP Portrait Premio alla National Portrait Gallery. JENNY: PROBABLY A GODDESS
I am primarily a figurative painter working in a realist style. My work is about the experiences of women and most of my paintings are of women in a scene. This exhibition is a departure for
me: where previously I’ve used pliable shapes and invented masses complemented by primitive ceramics, sculpted by hand in a process akin to the striation of painted strokes, this represents my first, experimental venture into the broader world of ceramics.
Last year I received a grant from Arts Council England to focus on nurturing the sculptural elements of my practice and to help enhance the technical skills to expand on my 3D work. The residency at CRETA Rome has been a fantastic opportunity to expand my exploration in the medium and to approach ceramic work from a painter's perspective.

Ruth Murray is a Manchester-based artist whose work reflects a deep interest in exploring portraiture, identity, and the presence of human concerns in natural settings and the social landscape.
Ruth graduated from the Royal College of Art and was the Derek Hill Scholar at the British School at Rome in 2008. Her notable exhibitions include Northern Stars at the A Foundation, Saatchi's 4 New Sensations, The Creative Cities Collection at the Barbican and the BP Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery. She was awarded an Elizabeth Greenshields grant in 2021, she won the Jackson’s Painting Prize in 2020 and she was shortlisted for the Contemporary British Painting Prize in 2019. She is a member of the Contemporary British Portrait Painters.
